Revolving around a girl's search for the ultimate goal -- a boyfriend -- Sandy Wilson's appropriately named musical was extremely successful, spawning a Broadway incarnation in 1954. A parody of musicals in the 1920s, The Boy Friend is sugary and cheery in all the right ways. The recording here is from the London revival cast, released originally in 1967. The Boy Friend is best known for featuring Julie Andrews in her debut Broadway performance, and this recording lacks the star power. However, it is still a fun score and a good recording.
