AllMusic Review by

Hit songs have a way of taking one back to a very specific time and place, and every year has its songs that seem to belong to only right there and then, although a classic song remains a classic song. This set celebrates the year 1940, and includes such enduring recordings as Glenn Miller's "In the Mood" and "Tuxedo Junction," the Andrews Sisters' "South of the Border," and the Ink Spots' "Maybe," among others, along with a 23-minute-and-change radio adaptation of the movie The Philadelphia Story.
