The Best of Platinum condenses two popular three-CD Mina anthologies, The Platinum Collection (2004) and The Platinum Collection, Vol. 2 (2006), into an 18-track single-disc compilation. It does not feature any previously unreleased material, but includes one song, "Uappa," that was not present on either of the Platinum Collection sets. Contrary to its multi-disc sources, the material is here arranged in chronological order, from 1968 to 1986, which should please purists. This also means it does not include any of her classics from her pre-PDU years (1960-1968), or anything from the 20-plus albums she released between 1986 and 2007, but with an artist as prolific as Mina, a comprehensive single-disc collection may be simply unfeasible. The Best of Platinum should be considered an adequate overview of Mina's '70s output.
