AllMusic Review by

K-Tel's The Best of Tommy James & the Shondells is a budget-line collection that contains many of the group's biggest hits, plus James as a solo artist, including "Draggin' the Line," "I Think We're Alone Now," "Hanky Panky," "Mony Mony," "Mirage," "Crimson & Clover," "Sweet Cherry Wine" and "Crystal Blue Persuasion." However, don't be misled by the cover, which depicts James at his prime. All the selections are "new stereo" recordings and sound very, very weak. In other words, it isn't of interest to the casual or hardcore fan, even though the silly "I Think We're Alone Now (2000)," which sounds like vintage Rick Springfield, is quite amusing.
