The Best of Sweet on Prime Cuts is the kind of record that might look good if you don't look too closely. All the band's big hits, like "Ballroom Blitz," "Blockbuster," "Little Willy," and "Fox On the Run" are here, as well as some cool non-hits like "Teenage Rampage" and "Hell Raiser." Still, you really need to look closer. The first sign of trouble is the "featuring Brian Connolly" subheading to the album's title. That means he is probably the only bandmember involved. More important is the line on the cover that states "Digitally recorded in 1995." In other words, these are re-recordings. Lame, bland, and pointless re-recordings. Connolly isn't in great shape vocally and the musicians have absolutely no grasp of what made these songs great in the first place. They just trudge through and wait for their paychecks. Please do not buy this record. If you need some Sweet, there are many legit collections that will satisfy you.
