AllMusic Review by

An album worth having just for Jerry Fielding's music for "The Trouble With Tribbles" from the original series. Fortunately, the quality (if not the humor) is repeated for the suites chosen to represent The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager. TNG gets the benefit of two suites, one from "Heart Of Glory", and the other from the moving "Inner Light" (one of the most requested pieces to that point.) The latter, by Jay Chattaway, is one of the finest pieces composed for either the TV or the movie series, and would be a splendid concert piece. DS9 fans, meanwhile, get a suite from "The Visitor", along with a version of the main title that's supposed to be the fourth season revamp but instead turns out to be another mix entirely, complete with crashing drums. "The Visitor" is a nice Dennis McCarthy outing that almost resorts to traditional melody and theme over orchestral atmospherics. For Voyager there is the wonderful Jerry Goldsmith main title and another nice McCarthy outing for "Heroes And Villains." Overall, a very nice release, nicely done, aside from some inconsistent mastering that mainly affects the TNG main title. Enhanced CD content includes a film trailer.
