The Rasta Rebels are a club band from Kimberley, South Africa, led by charismatic front man Dr. Victor (Victor Khojane). They specialize in Afro-pop dance numbers fed by traditional rhythms and a strong affinity for American R&B and Jamaican reggae. While an exciting live act, their studio sound is, unfortunately, too slick, smooth, and keyboard heavy to do much justice to the songs on this collection, which is weighted down with crowd pleasing dance medleys (both Bob Marley and Sam Cooke are feted with medleys on this release). The traditional Hebrew melody "Yudai Yudai" sort of sticks out as an oddity, but there is not enough grit and funk here to make any of this particularly memorable.
