AllMusic Review by

The Best of New Orleans Rhythm & Blues, Vol. 2 is just as thrilling as its predeceessor, featuring 18 tracks of classic, funky R&B from the likes of Frankie Ford ("Sea Cruise"), Shirley & Lee ("Let the Good Times Roll"), Lee Dorsey ("Ride Your Pony," "Working in a Coal Mine"), the Meters ("Cissy Strut"), Irma Thomas ("Ruler of My Heart," "It's Raining"), the Dixie Cups ("Iko Iko"), Lloyd Price ("Just Because," "Lawdy Miss Clawdy"), Barbara George ("I Know (You Don't Love Me No More)"), Guitar Slim ("The Things That I Used to Do"), Chris Kenner ("I Like It Like That") and Clarence "Frogman" Henry ("Ain't Got No Home"). There are no bad cuts here, and nearly every song is a classic, making it an essential edition to any library, as well as one of the definitive overviews of New Orleans R&B.
