Sony Music Special Products' ten-track budget compilation The Best of Kris Kristofferson contains a few of the singer/songwriter's most valuable copyrights -- "Help Me Make It Through the Night," "Loving Her Was Easier (Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again)," and "Me and Bobby McGee" -- but not such standards as "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down" and "For the Good Times," or Kristofferson's biggest hit as a recording artist, "Why Me." So, its claim to containing his best is simply false. A number of his early compositions are included (and earlier Kristofferson tends to be better), but it's hard to imagine how anyone could judge these songs to be his ten best.
