AllMusic Review by

This is the original installment in this landmark series, collecting 28 obscure doo wop tracks that were originally issued on Wayne Stierle's Candlelite label. The original "Why Don't You Write Me" by the Feathers is here, along with Jesse Belvin sitting in with them on "Love Song." The crude and crazed "Jeannie" by the Thrashers also makes its first CD appearance, along with the teenage bop of "Come on Baby" by the Five Discs and the dreamy teen sentimentality of "Lost Lover" by the Cameos and "Romance in the Spring" by the Five Roses. An excellent compilation covering the super-obscure side of the genre, and great listening every note of the way.
