If one is to take its title literally, The Best of Alcatrazz is pretty much over after just one song: the group's sensational debut single "Island in the Sun." Beyond that, this collection of "highlights" from the band's schizophrenic career proves only that Graham Bonnet's post-Rainbow project never had a hope in Hell. Painfully forced stabs at pop-metal from the band's second album (featuring Steve Vai), and forgettable entries from their swan song Dangerous Games, suffer the even greater indignity of sharing space with three pointless live recordings of Rainbow tracks. Can you say "faceless"? The point is, avoid this compilation and stick with the band's debut, No Parole from Rock'n'Roll.
