AllMusic Review by

The Best Disco in Town is a five-disc trip through the history of disco (including some diversions that aren't exactly disco, but are still danceable), and a rather populist one at that, including plenty of oft-spun chart hits -- the Average White Band's "Pick Up the Pieces," A Taste of Honey's "Boogie Oogie Oogie," Tavares' "More Than a Woman," T-Connection's "Do What You Wanna Do," the Sylvers' "Boogie Fever," and Peter Brown's "Do You Wanna Get Funky With Me." Though it does obviously include plenty of material, the overall selection isn't strong enough to warrant much attention. Too many second- and third-tier singles are included, and most of those residing in the first tier can be considered played out by the average human who has been remotely engaged in popular culture for the past 30 years.
