AllMusic Review by

This curious collection from Bellevue Publishing contains 54 tracks celebrating the ancient wind instrument known as the pan flute. In a testament to the instrument's awesome staying power, this three-disc compilation features a barrage of pan-adapted pop hits, mostly from the latter decades of the 20th century. Classic rock softies like Elton John's "Candle in the Wind" and Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight" get the mystical flute treatment along with a predictable selection of movie themes like Titanic's "My Heart Will Go On" and Aladdin's "A Whole New World." Supplying nearly half of these majestic arrangements is an artist named Ricardo Caliente, who transcends panpipe playing altogether by performing his selections entirely on a synthesizer. The other half of the material is provided by pro-pan stalwarts Los de la Flauta, who kick it old-school by performing their gentle versions of Chris de Burgh's "Lady in Red" and Wham!'s "Careless Whisper" on the actual pan flute.
