In 1950 arranger Gene Roland briefly ran a huge 25-piece rehearsal band. The orchestra did not last very long but on April 3 they recorded three numbers plus a lot of excerpts and those are included on this LP. Most notable is the fact that Charlie Parker pops up briefly on these songs, along with trombonist Jimmy Knepper and tenors Al Cohn and Zoot Sims, but the music is mostly of historical interest. Side two of this LP features the Charlie Parker quintet with trumpeter Miles Davis live from the Three Deuces in March 1948, playing quite well.
