Originally released in an edition of tour-only CD-Rs by harrowing sound artist Kevin Drumm himself in 2012, The Back Room is five tracks of the harsher side of Drumm's always dark sound world. Electronic feedback, clipping fuzz, haunted delay sounds, and a perpetual, often nauseating din are broken up by brief stretches of distant bell sounds that get drenched in feedback before too long. Sharp and formless, The Back Room is noise without hope. Its painful textures shift from one dark path to another rapidly, tricking the listener into thinking there's a way out of Drumm's circular maze.
