This 21-song publisher's sampler is one of the more fun compilations of Chuck Berry's work ever to get assembled by an official source. Comprised of Berry's music as interpreted by the man himself ("All Aboard," "Orangutang," "No Particular Place to Go," "Adulteen," "You Two," "Brenda Lee," "The Little Girl from Central," "Let's Go Go Go," "Come On," "Big Ben," "The Man and the Donkey"), interspersed with renditions by the Groovie Ghoulies, Emmylou Harris, the Carson City Playboys, Dr. Feelgood, Bo Diddley, Taj Mahal, and Nina Simone, it has a lot of diversity of sound and approach, and is a lot of fun. There is no annotation, as the latter would be superfluous to the purpose of the disc -- to demo songs for possible use in movies -- but the sound is so good and the idea behind it all so good (if obvious), that it's worth owning, even for veteran listeners.
