AllMusic Review by

Call mainstream dance music disposable if you will, but collections like Ministry of Sound: The Annual 2004 prove how fun, slick, and clever the genre can be. Take the naïve and ultracatchy hook of Milky's "Just the Way You Are" or Tiga's wry electroclash take on Nelly's "Hot in Herre" and just try to resist. The mix of the last four tracks on disc one is camp-pop heaven with names like Dead or Alive, Minogue (Dannii this time), and Elton John popping up, and if you care for cheeky electro, Benny Benassi should be your new hero. Disc two features more trance-based tunes with Angel City and Armin van Buuren satisfying any craving for widescreen, fist-in-the-air soundtracks. Slick and well paced, Ministry of Sound: The Annual 2004 has more than its fair share of great tunes.
