As a soundtrack for Victor Schonfield's animal liberation documentary showing the excesses of vivisection, The Animals Film will disappoint fans of Wyatt's vocals -- they are scarcely on this mini-album, and only as another instrument. Instead, The Animals Film features moody, dark piano instrumentals filled out with programmed drums, a splash of guitar, and an assortment of very tasty-sounding analog synths from the late '70s. The title track is the best of the bunch, a simple piano theme that dips and dives where you least expect it, with Wyatt's vocals doubling the melody. Once only available on vinyl, the tracks can now be found on the Thirsty Ear EP box set.
