Though it was initially released as two separate albums -- 2012's The Afterman: Ascension and 2013's The Afterman: Descension -- Coheed and Cambria's ambitious sci-fi epic is collected in one set simply titled The Afterman. Featuring both albums as well as a third disc, Afterman Live, the three-disc set provides listeners with the complete adventure of Sirius Amory and his adventures with the Keywork. Expanding on the material, the liner notes provide a deeper narrative for each song, further exploring the story created by the neo-prog rockers as they continue to expand the detailed world they've created with their music, providing fans new and old with an engrossing science fiction extravaganza that proves once again that Coheed and Cambria are one of the few modern bands to really embrace the storytelling power of the concept album.
