AllMusic Review by

The Brunswick label's three-disc Eurocentric 80s Collection features 36 cuts from pop music history's most eclectic decade. There are plenty of huge global hits here, like "Dance Hall Days" (Wang Chung), "Come on Eileen" (Dexys Midnight Runners), "Obsession" (Animotion), and "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" (Tears for Fears), but the majority of this surprisingly enjoyable compilation tips its hat to the U.K. charts. Songs like "Piano in the Dark" by Brenda Russell and the Rainbirds' "Blueprint," as well as two cuts from Level 42, neither of which are "Something About You," keep this anthology of genre-defying, fun, and occasionally ingratiating slabs of radio wax from the end of the Cold War a cut above the rest.
