Flashback, a budget-line division of Rhino, released a three-disc series titled The '70s Sound in 2004. The series is more likely to be helpful to wedding DJs in a bind than the average music fan. Each volume features ten tracks, all of which were hits, though the selection process appears to have been fairly random. And, unfortunately, the disco hits are present as three-minute radio edits that are inferior to their album-mix or 12" counterparts. '70s Sound, Vol. 1 features Dr. John's "Right Place, Wrong Time," Lobo's "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo," Todd Rundgren's "I Saw the Light," Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky," and the Spinners' "The Rubberband Man."
