50's Decade: Love Songs has a fairly promising track listing that mixes the era's traditional pop with rock love songs. However, none of the songs here appear in their original versions. Some of the re-recordings aren't terrible; Jack Scott's "My True Love," the Platters' "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," and the Drifters' "There Goes My Baby" are such good songs that even airless, canned-sounding re-recordings can't destroy them completely. That's almost beside the point, though; there are many collections that do feature the original versions of these songs, making this collection a waste of time and money.
