AllMusic Review by

U.K. New Wave act The Fixx was all over the U.S. charts, airwaves, and MTV in the early 1980s. The Fixx's first singles, songs like "Stand or Fall" and "Red Skies" from their debut SHUTTERED ROOM, were atmospheric and insistent, like distant storm warnings. 1983's REACH THE BEACH generated the surging rocker "One Thing Leads to Another" (one of the band's finest moments) and "Saved By Zero." The group continued to release records throughout the '80s and early '90s, spawning occasional hits (like the existentially-themed "Are We Ourselves?"), while sticking to their wiry, synth-dominated sound. The TWENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY ANTHOLOGY marks a significant milestone for this unique British band.
