"Thank God I Found You" was the second and final U.S. number one hit from Mariah Carey's album Rainbow. The maxi-single for the song featured the original, definitive album version, with supporting vocals courtesy of Joe and 98 Degrees. In its original form, the song is a lush, classic Carey-styled adult contemporary ballad, with uplifting lyrics and a sea of soaring vocals. The remix featured on this maxi-single (titled "Make It Last") isn't really a remix at all, but a cover of the 1988 Keith Sweat hit "Make It Last Forever." Carey and Joe simply remake that song, with a couple of lyrical references to the original "Thank God I Found You" and a rap thrown into the mix courtesy of Nas. That version, incidentally, can also be found on Joe's hit album My Name Is Joe. Their take on the song isn't bad, but one wishes they would have simply covered the song and kept its integrity intact, instead of meshing it into a sort of half-"Thank God I Found You"/"Make It Last Forever" creation, which ultimately makes it seem somewhat unfinished. Also featured on this single is "Babydoll," an album track from Butterfly.
