Like the first volume, Texas to the Bone, Vol. 2 features an array of artists who embody the musical legacy of Texas. Most of them are relative newcomers, though some, such as the Great Divide, have a few albums under their belts and are quite established regionally. The emphasis here isn't on the artists, however, but rather on the songs and, of course, Texas. If the songs themselves don't employ the Lonestar State as a central theme, they at least represent the sound of Texas, whether it be straightforward contemporary country or more eccentric styles such as Western swing revival. Regardless of style, the ten songs form a diverse whole that offers several different perspectives on Texas and its rich musical legacy.
