A surprisingly strong release from the GVB, as they get more in touch with their Southern gospel roots, but also allow themselves to delve into calypso, traditional gospel, and even a little rock & roll. Perhaps most importantly, it is obvious on several songs that this group is having a great time singing together. They open with the rollicking "John the Revelator," and show outstanding ensemble work on the wonderfully arranged "I Shall Wear a Crown," and bring it all together with "Send It on Down." They also include several Southern gospel ballads that adequately demonstrate each member's abilities, but it is the upbeat numbers that sets this group apart from the many Southern gospel bands' records: they just have more fun.
