Bolstered by the charting success of their skittering pre-release single "Mejor Soltero" and its resultant video, Buitres de Culiacan Sinaloa have heightened expectations for Territorio Buitre. Since forming in 2004, the Vultures have steadily climbed toward the top tier of the "alterna movimiento" in norteño. Their narcocorridos, tender and sensual love songs, and party anthems here deliver the goods abundantly. Check the house rocking "El Musarañero" (its video is something to behold as well, showcasing their effect on a live audience), or the fingerpopping corrido "Chilango Loko," with its car chase sound effects added to the traditional form for both dramatic tension and humorous release. Other highlights include the ballad "Ciega por El" and the narcocorrido "Terreno Protegido." On Territorio Buitre, the band has come up with a near perfect mix of the sweet, sinister, and celebratory.
