Imagine an Ennio Morricone score to an episode of the original Star Trek as played by a Jesus & Mary Chain, Stereolab, and Os Mutantes supergroup and you're pretty close to Teenagers Film Their Own Life. With a mix of vintage keyboards such as the Elka Panther, fuzzy Eko Ranger guitars, and echo chamber percussion, Valvola creates fully realized cinematic retro creep-out Italian lounge rock at its best. From the spy à gogo of "The Guitarmakers Adventure: Era IV" to the gut-wrenching space balladry of "He Cried," the album is brilliant. Why haven't they scored a Dario Argento film?
