AllMusic Review by

Sanctuary's entry in the crowded world of new wave/punk compilations features the usual slew of late-'70s/early-'80s stalwarts like the Jam ("Town Without Malice"), the Clash ("Rock the Casbah"), and the Undertones, the latter of whom provide Teenage Kicks with its iconic title. It's a grab bag for sure -- future compilers of sets like these need to realize that nobody wants to hear the demo version of "Anarchy in the U.K.," so please stop it -- and while it may get a little bogged down at times in straight-up, knock-over-your-amplifier British punk, there are enough wild cards like "Geno" from Kevin Rowland's Dexys Midnight Runners, Adam & the Ants' ballsy call to arms "Antmusic," and the English Beat's dancefloor classic "Mirror in the Bathroom" to make it a worthwhile investment for genre newcomers.
