By 1956, Teddy Wilson had long since formed his distinctive style, and in fact, his playing on these trio recordings with bassist Gene Ramey and drummer Jo Jones differs little from his style of 20 years earlier. But, despite a certain amount of predictability, Wilson's music remained quite enjoyable, for he was the perfect swing pianist, a melodic improviser whose technique was flawless (he never sounded like he could possibly make a mistake) and whose style always remained quite accessible. In addition to the standards he recorded in 1956, Wilson performs two solo renditions of pieces by Swedish composers ("Too Late" and "My Love Is Yours") in 1970 on this LP. A typically tasteful set by Teddy Wilson.
