The Irish Rovers' fourth album in two years shows no slackening of either quality or range, though Tales to Warm Your Mind may be more introspective than some of their other efforts. Starting with "Stop, Look, Listen," the Rovers are slightly more restrained, and prove that less is more -- the mix of lyricism and reflective words shows them as more sophisticated than they'd seemed on their preceding records, as well as showing off considerable instrumental dexterity, which was an attribute that they had always intended to emphasize. The cover art here is clever as well, with a combination of photos that anticipates the layout on the Who's Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy about three years later.
