AllMusic Review by

This out-of-print LP from Marian McPartland's Halcyon label was much more valuable before a Jazz Alliance CD reissued five of its seven selections (along with numbers from a slightly earlier album). One of cornetist Jimmy McPartland's last records (although he would live until 1991), the Dixieland session -- which also includes some swing standards -- finds McPartland in jubilant form in a sextet with his wife Marian on piano, trombonist Vic Dickenson, Buddy Tate on reeds (tenor, clarinet and baritone), bassist Rusty Gilder and drummer Gus Johnson. The live date has typically spirited versions of such tunes as "I Can't Give You Anything But Love," "Dinah," and "Perdido," along with a few unexpected numbers ("Polka Dots and Moonbeams" and "When You Wish Upon a Star").
