One of the better recordings from the period by the vocal duo of Jackie Cain and Roy Kral, it is a pity that the music on this LP is long out of print. With instrumental backing and occasional solos from pianist Kral, Anthony Ortega on alto and flute, vibraphonist Larry Bunker, guitarist Barney Kessel, bassist Al McKibbon and drummer Frank Butler, Jackie & Roy sing mostly vintage material on their pleasing set. Among the highlights are "Sweet and Low Down," "Cheek to Cheek," a classic version of "Mountain Greenery," Cole Porter's obscure "Experiment" (one of several songs that showcase Jackie's voice) and Kral's wordless original "Wingin' with the Wind." Hopefully Columbia will reissue this one someday, but don't hold your breath.
