Suture was constructed around samples that were made at a live recording session; the samples varied in length from a few seconds to a minute. Although cut by the Frontier guitar-bass-drums trio, the works were given to Chicago engineers, who molded them into the results that comprise this six-song, 30-minute EP. It's dense, sometimes bleak stuff that often deploys oscillating waves of sound, murky texture, and rumbling, funky bass-heavy bottoms. It's also largely instrumental. The closing "Strong City," however, is a surprisingly groovy song-with-lyrics, suffused with languid vocals and reverbed guitars.
