AllMusic Review by

The vinyl equivalent of the old World's Finest comics teaming Superman and Batman or the DeNiro-meets-Pacino scene in the movie Heat, this split single teams the two greatest bands of the 1990s in support of an eminently worthy cause. Issued in conjunction with a November 1993 Spiritualized/Mercury Rev tour, it's almost more notable for its packaging -- a plush full-color program stuffed with great photos of both groups as well as a Greenpeace manifesto -- than it is for its music: Spiritualized's "Good Dope, Good Fun" is an instrumental mix of the Electric Mainline EP cut "Lay Back in the Sun," while the Rev's entry is a live rendition of the Boces track "Boys Peel Out." Neither is particularly revelatory, but it's still an essential addition for fans of both acts -- and really, is there anyone who likes one but not the other?
