Morphine's music has a driving energy and edge to it that doesn't allow a moderate response. A power trio that uses drums, bass and sax is an odd one, but it works like a charm, from Billy Conway's snapping attack on drums to Mark Sandman's ennui-drenched vocals. This CD single includes two live cuts and an improvisational instrumental that wanders around for a while and stops. Altogether enjoyable.
