Joe Cocker didn't have any hits while he was recording for Sony's 550 Music, so it's a little disingenuous to call this ten-track collection Super Hits. Technically, there's only one hit here, "You Are So Beautiful," and that wasn't cut for 550 in the '90s -- it was released on A&M in 1975. Similarly, the other song here that's even close to a hit is a cover of Randy Newman's "You Can Leave Your Hat On," which never charted -- it just became a popular strip-club favorite after its appearance in 9 1/2 Weeks. So, what does that make Super Hits? Actually, something that's not that bad: Neglected as they were, the 550 recordings were well produced and as entertaining as anything he made in the late '80s. But they probably won't appeal to casual fans (who are most likely to pick up a budget-line collection like this), and hardcore fans will want to stick with Have a Little Faith and Organic, the two records he released on 550.
