AllMusic Review by

Sunnmoonsekt delivers nothing less than East Bay funk for the space age. Building upon the traditions of Too Short, Mac Mall, Hobo Junction, and Zion I, Slumplordz have updated the Oakland rap sound for the new millennium. With heavy bass in tow, their Moog applications and electro accents refresh their "status on the microphone, raw apparatus." Hard Rard and Moon are more than ample MCs, especially when they approach controversial topics such as conspiracy theories and tax revolt. Very much a consistent album, Sunnmoonsekt is as entertaining as it is time-honored. So while typical misogyny is expected, so too is an uplifting experience, reminiscent of a MacArthur Boulevard sideshow frequented by spaceships. Stray Records strikes again.
