AllMusic Review by

Paavo Järvi's recordings with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra for Telarc show a maturity of interpretive depth. However, Järvi's 2004 recording coupling Stravinsky's Le sacra du printemps with Nielsen's Symphony No. 5 proves to be a mixed bag. Järvi's Le sacra is colorful and wonderfully shaped, but it somehow lacks rhythmic drive -- an essential compnent of the work. Likewise, Symphony No. 5 is sonically beautiful but missing dance and motion. These are perfectly pleasant, and in many ways impressive, recordings, but connoisseurs of the works may find them a bit off the mark. Telarc's digital sound is excellent as always.
