AllMusic Review by

When a fearsome professional wrestler like Steve Austin is asked to compile an album of his favorite songs, what do you expect? Mantovani? The style Austin favors is one as powerful and hard-hitting as his own personality and exploits. Accordingly, COLD METAL is full of (mostly '80s-oriented) mainstream metal, the kind death metal/industrial metal detractors look back on with teary-eyed nostalgia. Power chords and testicles-in-a-vise squeals abound, as the listener is presented with both familiar tunes (the Scorpions' "Rock You Like a Hurricane") and more obscure songs (Molly Hatchet's "Dreams I'll Never See," STONE COLD METALS nod to southern rock).
