Milky Chance, a German duo consisting of vocalist/instrumentalist Clemens Rehbein and DJ Philipp Dausch, self-released their debut album, Sadnecessary, in 2013. It was distributed through Germany via Rough Trade, and one of its singles, an amiable folk-dance hybrid "Stolen Dance," peaked at number one, two, or three on pop charts in nine territories. The following year, the album was licensed for release in the U.K. In the U.S., the UMG-affiliated Republic took four songs from the album, with "Stolen Dance" as the obvious choice for lead track. The other three selections are roughly as accessible and similarly spindly, though two of them -- "Down by the River" (not a cover) and "Feathery" -- are a few shades darker in tone.
