In the retro rockabilly sweepstakes, you'd have to go some to beat out the efforts of Indiana's Blue Moon Boys, for both heartfelt exuberance and downright top-notch execution. Kenny Taylor is a brand name guitar player from the first lick on this and his solo on the opener "Let Me In"; it's nothing short of mind boggling. The quality stays high as the band works a number of grooves and proves that original material can be written for this genre that're something more than just a retread exercise. Standout tracks are numerous, but those looking for a good time would do well to punch up "Mandolina," "Smashed Down Flat," and the catchy as all get out "The Monkey Song." A top-notch effort by a band that deserves a much bigger audience.
