A relatively enjoyable, if extremely lo-fi, discount disc from Legacy (or Olympic, or Bescol). The artists are entirely unnamed, as the liner notes are rather less than extensive. The main problem with the album, though, is the extremely poor recording quality -- the steel band sound is low to begin with (probably a small band), and various shakers completely overpower the playing in many points. Beyond the simple volume problems, the sound is occasionally rather scratchy. Most of the songs sound somewhat alike here. The one major highlight on the album is the reworking of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik to a nice calypso tempo -- classical steelband reworkings are always enjoyable. Pick it up if you're desperate, but perhaps look for Delos' Caribbean Carnival Series first.
