Released as a companion album to his self-directed 2018 documentary film, Michael Franti & Spearhead's Stay Human, Vol. 2 -- he also released a 2001 album titled Stay Human -- explores themes of hope, motivation, and the desire to make a difference in tumultuous times. It follows the band's 2016 release, SoulRocker, and carries on Franti's globally oriented mix of reggae, rock, rap, folk, and pop. Co-produced by Ben Simonetti, Niko Moon, and Kevin Bard, the album also features guest appearances from Hawaiian reggae singer HIRIE and Spanish-American singer Victoria Canal, among others.
