AllMusic Review by

Vic Lewis conducts the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 11 re-recordings of movie themes and theatrical theme music, which would be safely overlooked if not for the presence of three pieces that are particularly worthwhile, the otherwise unrecorded main theme to the western Hannie Caulder composed by Ken Thorne (who also produced this collection), Ralph Vaughan Williams's main title music to the 1941 anti-Nazi thriller 49th Parallel, and Sir William Walton's music for Escape Me Never. Much of the rest, such as the "Theme From M*A*S*H" and "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," is nothing special, the orchestra's playing throughout being a little too lush and the over-recording of the original sessions obscuring some detail in the playing.
