In the early '60s, home stereo recording was becoming a real hobby among hi-fi enthusiasts. Because of this, the demand for sound effects records was becoming quite big. This collection, while a bit thin, is actually a very good sampling of some of the more popular sounds. It is also extremely well-recorded to boot. While the Elektra Records series is more ideal, for a single disc containing everything from baseball (and other) crowds, women screaming, traffic backgrounds, baby cries, and even squad car effects, this a fine sampler; it's definitely worth seeking out as a budget primer.
