The second album by this Seattle-area musician is a highly sensitive and discriminating extension of the solo bamboo flute music of his debut recording, Quiet Heart. Here he plays both alto and bamboo flutes, with added chimes, finger cymbals and a touch of synthesizer. A group of friends play real crystals, and the whole combination melds together seamlessly. The soft liquidity of the flutes and the (literally) crystalline clarity of the percussion instruments is preserved in a fine digitally mastered recording. Each side is a continuous, slowly unfolding movement; Spirit Wind is an "underwhelming" little jewel you'll enjoy for years.
