While this was someone's idea of folk-rock from the 1960s, it may well not be everyone else's perception of the genre. There are some classic songs on this brief collection, though, whether or not they are actually folk-rock, including "Creeque Alley" by the Mamas and the Papas, the Stone Poneys' version (featuring a young Linda Ronstadt) of Michael Nesmith's "Different Drum," Glen Campbell's take on John Hartford's "Gentle on My Mind," and Brian Wilson's ├╝ber-production of "Sloop John B." by the Beach Boys.
