This is an unusual Pete Fountain record for the popular Dixieland/swing clarinetist's regular group (which at the time had trumpeter Jackie Coon and trombonist Moe Schneider) is joined by four drummers (Godfrey Hirsch, Jack Sperling, Nick Fatool and Paul Barbarin) and four trombones for a set of parade music. Actually many of the songs (such as "South Rampart Street Parade," "Over the Waves" and "Farewell Blues") are also part of the usual Dixieland repertoire but plenty of space was left for the drummers to be heard. This is a surprisingly successful and fun outing.
