Despite its contemporary urban-sounding title, Soundtrack Jams, Vol. 1 actually features mostly oldies, plus the odd disco or '80s number, that appeared on the soundtracks of well-known movies of the '80s and '90s. It's a rather odd way to tie the collection together, since many of the songs aren't immediately associated with the films in which they were used. But, if you discount more modern-sounding fare like Silver Convention's "Fly Robin Fly" or Irene Cara's "Flashdance (What a Feeling" (both excellent singles but a bit out of place here), it's actually not too bad of a collection, resembling an oldies-radio playlist in its generally upbeat feel (although there are similar, more cohesive comps available).
